About the project
Vism, a tech startup, approach us with a vision to streamline the installation management process in the large-format print and signage industry. The goal was to develop React Native mobile apps (iOS and Android) for on-site installers and a web-based dashboard for managers. The result was a centralized platform that automated workflows, improved communication, and saved hours of manual work.
Vism was built using React JS for the web dashboard and React Native for the mobile apps, providing a seamless experience for both managers and installers.
The goal
The primary goal was to automate and simplify installation workflows by replacing spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls with a single platform. The solution needed to:
-
Improve real-time communication between managers and on-site installers
-
Provide mobile access to job details, site updates and project requirements
-
Streamline reporting with on-site photo uploads and client sign-offs
-
Offer an intuitive experience modeled after common project management tools so it’s easy to use for industry professionals.
The challenge
The signage and installations industry faces unique challenges:
-
Fragmented communication: Managing projects involved juggling emails, phone calls, spreadsheets, and chat groups, leading to miscommunication and delays.
-
Manual workflows: Project managers spent hours coordinating jobs, duplicating data, and sharing updates with on-site teams.
-
On-side delays: Installers lacked real-time updates when job specifications changed, impacting job completion time.
-
Scalability: Handling multiple projects of varying complexity became increasingly difficult to manage efficiently.
The solution
We developed Vism, a two-platform consisting of React Native mobile apps for installers and a React JS web dashboard for managers:
-
Mobile applications (React Native for iOS and Android)
-
Instant job briefs: Installers receive site details, travel information, and contact details upon accepting a job.
-
Group chat: Automatically created when a job is assigned, ensuring smooth communication between installers and managers.
-
On-site reporting: Installers upload completion photos and collect client digital signatures through the app, speeding up job sign-offs.
-
Real-time updates: Notifications alert installers to any job changes, ensuring they always have the latest requirements.
-
Web-based Dashboard (React JS)
-
Centralized job management: Managers create jobs, send invites to available installers, and track project progress.
-
Automated job calendar: Job statuses update automatically, providing clear overview of all ongoing and completed installations.
-
Real-time notes: Managers can add notes or updates at any stage, instantly notifying installers through the mobile app.
By combining the mobile app for on-site teams and the web dashboard for managers, we created a single collaborative platform that simplified workflows and improved operational efficiency.
The result
The development of Vism delivered measurable improvements for our client and their teams:
-
Time savings: Manual workflows were eliminated. Managers could assign jobs, share updates, and track progress with just a few clicks.
-
Improved communication: Real-time notifications and group chats ensured managers and installers stayed in sync, even when requirements changes.
-
Faster job sign-off: Installers uploaded photos and obtained client digital signatures directly from the mobile app, speeding up completion times and improving customer satisfaction.
-
Centralized management: All project files, updates and job statuses were stored and updated automatically, ensuring transparency and reducing errors.
Key benefits:
-
Saved significant time and resources.
-
Improved installers efficiency with mobile-first tools.
-
Improved customers service with faster job sign-offs and reporting.
By placing the mobile apps at the center of the solution, Vism became a game-changer for installation management in the print and signage industry.
